What is Nekomori?

The Nekomori Cat Salon is a cat-only grooming salon in Sunny Singapore. We employ the use of low-stress, gentle, yet professional grooming techniques and handling abilities to ensure that our feline clients leave our doors happy, clean and looking their very best.

Our grooming salons are situated at five locations:

Nekomori is a quiet and peaceful environment for cats and their owners, and our facility is equipped with quality grooming tools and equipment to allow our Grooming Artisans to provide a comfortable, enjoyable experience for your cat.

What are your operating hours and days?

Nekomori is open daily from Mondays to Sundays, from 11 AM to 7 PM. (All outlets with the exception of Jalan Kayu and Malu Malu are closed on Tuesdays)

We may not operate on certain Public Holidays – Please refer to our online booking system for the list of available slots.

Earliest slots of the day are 11:30am, and the latest slots 3 PM to 4:30 PM depending on service choices.

What services do you provide?

We are generally able to cater to cats of all breeds, ages and coats. Each of our groomers is trained to identify the right treatment for our clients and make recommendations that suit your style and budget.

As a general guideline, we are able to do express (Mori Express), basic (Mori Essential) and full grooms (Mori Classic / Signature). Spa and treatments are available to soothe and pamper discerning felines.

Upon request we are also able to provide show grooming, and a la carte treatments.

How long does a grooming session take?

A grooming session may take between half an hour to 3 hours depending on the service requested. We ask for your patience in allowing our Cat Grooming Artisans time to get to know your cat, as well as make the entire grooming experience a comfortable one and pleasant one.

How do you sanitize your facility?

At the Nekomori Cat Salon, sanitation and hygiene is of utmost importance for the health and safety of our feline charges. Our facility and staff are trained to practice and abide to operating procedures that require them to sanitize grooming tools, surfaces and equipment in between clients with veterinary grade disinfectants. Our salon is also thoroughly sanitized twice a day; before opening and before closing.

Admissions

Is my cat suitable for grooming?

Most cats are suitable to receive regular cat grooming services at our salon. However, each cat is different and may require different amounts of care.

All cats at Nekomori will be subject to a simple Health & Behaviour Screening prior to services being provided. You will be paired to a Nekomori artisan, who will assess kitty and walk you through a complimentary pre-groom consultation in which we cover recommended services, treatments, as well as any special observations (etc. pre-existing wounds, injuries) that may render your cat otherwise unsuitable for grooming.

How often should I send my cat for a grooming session?

A cat should be given a regular groom every 6 weeks, with regular home maintenance provided every week. If you do not have time to maintain your cat at home, please consider bringing your cat in to us every 4 weeks for a freshen up.

Will you groom my kitten?

We are happy to groom your kitten, so long as they’ve completed their vaccinations before coming down for a groom, for safety in a shared cat space.

Will you groom my senior or ailing cat?

As a general guide, we take extra care when grooming cats that are of senior age (above 10 years old), injured or have underlying health conditions. In such cases, we may groom your cat for comfort over style, just to ensure that they are kept happy during their treatment with us.

If you believe that your cat may not be suitable for grooming, or requires special attention, please inform or speak to our groomers prior to services beginning.

I have an aggressive cat, can you groom it?

If your cat has biting or aggressive tendencies, we would appreciate if you inform our groomers of this ahead of time for their own safety.

Our Artisans will always attempt to make grooming a comfortable experience for all guests. If your cat should display aggressive tendencies or attempt to hurt our Artisans in the course of their work, we may find it necessary to discontinue the provision of services for their safety, or ask that another groomer assists with the session. In such an instance you will be informed that an Aggressive Pet grooming fee may apply at $80.

My cat is allergic to certain ingredients. What can I do?

You will be asked to fill a Pet Assessment Form on your first visit to the Nekomori Cat Salon, where you will be provided the opportunity to provide us with information that we ought to know before grooming your cat on each visit!

Should you subsequently become aware that your cat has certain allergies, behaviours or conditions that our groomers should know of on each visit to the salon, please inform us prior to treatment beginning.

What should I do to prepare my cat for grooming?

It is imperative that you do your best to help us keep kitty relaxed and happy before its visit to the salon. Some things you can do ahead of time include giving kitty treats so that it enters its carrier happily, and make the transport trip over to Nekomori a pleasant one by playing soft, quiet music in the car.

Appointments

Can I view Nekomori?

Most certainly – It’s important to us that you’re comfortable with our services and establishment. As we support an open-door policy, our salon allows for all clients to view cats being groomed, so you are welcome to walk in and have a look around. All we ask is that you do not cause unnecessary disturbance or inconvenience to our groomers who may be busy concentrating on their appointments.

How far in advance should I book a session?

We encourage making a booking at least a week in advance to secure your preferred appointment.

If you need to make an appointment for the same day, please drop us a call for assistance!

Is there a deposit required for booking an appointment?

  • A deposit of $40 (non-transport) / $80 (transport) per cat will be requested prior to appointment confirmation and must be paid within the day of the request, with payment screenshot sent via WhatsApp to +65 6288 3636.
  • The deposit applies to all appointments, including promotions, and will be offset against your final bill.
  • Please note that the appointment will be released if the deposit is not received within 1 HOUR.

How do I know my booking is confirmed?

Upon confirmation of your booking, you will receive an e-mail or Whatsapp message. Bookings are typically confirmed within 1 working day.

If you wish to check the status of your booking, please drop us a message on Whatsapp at 6288 3636 for assistance.

Do you accept cancellations on bookings?

Walk-in appointments may be cancelled or rescheduled to suit your schedule, so long as requests are made at least 2 days in advance to your appointment date to avoid a late-cancellation fee ($40).

Deposits ($40) for appointments with transport arranged are non-refundable. Such bookings are not cancellable but may be postponed to a later date should you be unavailable, requested at least 2 days in advance to the date of your booking.

We ask that you respect our groomers’ time and availability and stick to appointments if they have been confirmed.

What should I do if I need to postpone my appointment?

Please contact us if you require to postpone your appointment. You may do so at least 2 days prior to the appointment.

What if I am late for my appointment?

If you are more than 15 minutes late to your grooming appointment, our groomers reserve the right to cancel the booking without prior notice to you, in consideration of their time and the next appointment.

Preparing for Your Appointment

Do you have any grooming requirements?

While we do not have any grooming requirements, our Master Grooming Agreement does outline certain conditions that increase the probability of your cat being a suitable candidate for grooming at our salon.

Please refer here for more information under Point 2. These conditions are not indicative that your cat will be turned away at our facility, but merely mean that our Artisans may require more time in providing services to your cat to ensure a safe and pleasant grooming experience.

If you feel we ought to take extra special care when grooming your cat, please speak to our Artisans to discuss your concerns and we will do our best to address them!

What should I do prior to my appointment?

Please inform us if your cat is sick, has aggressive tendencies, or has parasites at the point of booking so we are better able to advise you accordingly.

What happens at the salon?

At the beginning of each salon visit, you will be assigned a Nekomori Artisan for the day. We start each appointment with a complimentary pre-grooming consultation, which includes a simple health and behavioural assessment, and requires the filling of our service sheet which will outline our Artisan’s recommendations, observations and services that you would like to be conducted for the day.

What information should I provide the groomer?

Please inform our Artisans of:

  • Any allergies, conditions or behaviours that might affect your cat’s grooming experience
  • Any sensitive areas that we should avoid
  • Any concise instructions that you would like us to follow strictly

When will my cat be done?

After your cat’s grooming session, our Artisans will inform you of its pick-up time. Please arrive within an hour from notification, or daycare fees may apply. We only accept payment at the end of the grooming session.

I am driving, where can I park?

For Kampong Bahru, there are parking spaces along Blair Road and an outdoor car park at Kampong Bahru Bus Terminal, further down the road.

For Jalan Kayu, there is an outdoor car park next to the prata shop along Jalan Kayu.

For Jalan Malu Malu, there are parking spaces available just outside or along the landed properties.

For Brighton Crescent, there are parking spaces available just outside the store.

For Serangoon North, parking lots are available right behind the outlet.

Transport

Do you provide transport services?

Yes, we do. Please opt for this at the point of placing an appointment on our bookings page and selecting the relevant service options.

Payment for transport services will be collected online and are non-refundable.

A member of our team will be in charge to confirm your transport arrangement or make alternative arrangements should they be unavailable.

How far in advance should I book my transport appointment?

We highly recommend transport bookings to be placed at least a week in advance for your preferred appointment.

What days and times can I select from?

Transport services are available from Mondays to Fridays; each day to a different area in Singapore.

As there are limited slots daily, it is highly encourages to book transport at least a week in advance for a higher chance of securing your preferred appointment.

Pick up is from 10:30 AM to 2 PM, and drop off is from 5 PM to 7 PM, timing is not fixed and dependent on the number of cats onboard as well as the driver’s route and traffic conditions.

How do I prepare for pick-up & drop-off?

Our driver will drop you a call or message prior to their arrival from 10:30 AM to 2 PM.

You will be required to provide your own hard transport carrier for the journey, lined with a pee-pad.

Drop-off is between the hours of 5 PM to 7 PM. Waiting charges will apply at $10 per 10 min block.

Please be contactable during these time windows, and liaise with our driver to bring kitty down / pick kitty up at the designated drop-off point for a seamless trip to the salon and home.

Failure to pick-up/drop-off your cat timely will result in your appointment being rescheduled and the $40 deposit will be forfeited.

Do transport charges still apply if my cat is uncooperative during grooming?

Yes, transport charges will apply regardless of whether grooming is conducted successfully or not.

We do not profit from this charge and it goes entirely towards covering expenses incurred in travelling between your destination and the salon.

How do I provide grooming instructions?

Once your cat has been picked up by our driver, you will be informed by our Artisans once it reaches the salon safely.

Once at the salon, we will conduct a pre-grooming consultation to assess kitty’s condition, inform you of any observations and make recommendations on the day’s treatment. Please ensure that you are contactable via phone or WhatsApp on the day of your appointment, we will not begin the session unless we hear from you.

If you are uncontactable, for whatever reason, we reserve the right not to provide any services to your Pet and will return your pet at drop-off. Our pet transport rate of $40, $10 per additional cat will be chargeable regardless.

How do I pay?

Payment for the grooming services should be made via PayNow through a link that will be issued before your cat leaves the salon.

We reserve the right to retain the pet if payment for services is not duly or fully received.

Is there a deposit for transport services?

Grooming

I have a specific cut in mind.

To assist our Artisans in providing a satisfactory experience for you and your cat, please discuss freely any ideas or instructions that you have in mind for the session ahead, during your complimentary pre-grooming consultation!

Can I stay and watch the grooming session?

Feel free to stay and watch the grooming session from the viewing area, though we ask that you refrain from crowding too closely to the glass panels.

Can I check my cat after the groom?

We highly recommend that you take the opportunity after your cat’s grooming session to inform our Artisans if there are any areas you may be unsatisfied with. We would be happy to touch up your cat on the spot!

I did not check my cat and am unhappy with the grooming session.

You are generally required to sign a check-out form prior to leaving the salon when the appointment is completed, and prompted to check your cat before departing.

However, we offer a one-week satisfaction guarantee on our services. If you should return home and find yourself unsatisfied with the service we have rendered you, please inform us by writing in to us on WhatsApp at 6288 3636 within 3 days of your appointment, so that we may assist you directly.

We regret that we cannot honour this guarantee later than 7 days from the date of your past appointment.

Workshops & Courses

Are there any terms & conditions to be aware of?

  • Only 1 cat per attendee is allowed
  • Cats attending must be non-aggressive, in good health, and free of transmittable illness and/or parasites. We reserve the right to deny entry to non-compliant cats for the safety of other attendees
  • Workshop and course attendance fees are strictly non-refundable once  paid
  • If a workshop cannot proceed due to unforeseen circumstances, Nekomori will advise on the next soonest slot or allow the participant first pick for attendance of a subsequent workshop/course

How do I sign up for a Cat Grooming Workshop?

We presently accept up to 9 pax per grooming workshop, and 6 pax per professional course.

Can I attend the workshop with a friend?

We allow up to 2 pax per cat attending, but recommend that each participant has a cat attend with them (ie. 1 cat/1 pax) to allow for sufficient practical time.

My cat does not meet the attending requirements. Should I attend the workshop or course?

Please be considerate and do not attend the workshop/course if your cats do not meet our attending requirements. Contact us at least 2 days in advance and we will be happy to reschedule you to a subsequent workshop slot. For professional course candidates, you may wish to source for an alternate model cat.

Our Artisans reserve the right to deny entry to the class venue if attending cats are ill, aggressive, or are found to have parasites. A physical inspection will be held on all cats entering the academy and no refunds will be provided to attendees whose cats do not comply with our Attending Requirements.

How can I ensure my cat's safety in a shared environment?

Although we do our utmost to ensure the cleanliness of our grooming facility, our workshop is a social environment where cats will share a communal space. There is a possibility your cat may come into close proximity of another cat.

To prevent the transmission of any parasites between cats that may go unnoticed by owners attending the workshop, we require that all attending cats are treated with a spot-on Revolution preventive prior to class beginning.

Sanitizers will be made available for workshop attendees to use.

I can't make it for the class.

If you’ve booked a slot for our workshops or courses but are unable to attend, please inform us in writing at least 48 hours prior to the start of the class. Subject to availability, we may allow postponement to a future workshop. However, we reserve all rights to not provide a postponement.

We do not provide refunds on workshop or professional course slots. Please note that for professional course students there is a minimum attendance requirement of 75% to pass.

What if I do not have a cat?

What attendees and students from previous intakes have done was to borrow a friend or family member’s cat, please source for your own cat.

Cat Care for Owners

When should I start grooming my cat?

Grooming is an important part of being a responsible cat owner. We recommend that you begin introducing grooming interactions from a young age, to bring up a well-mannered, well-adjusted cat.

Simple things like brushing, ear cleaning and nail clipping are easy to do at home, and often times incite curiousity in kittens!

What are the basics of providing a regular groom for my cat?

A basic groom for your cat should include treatment of the following areas to be considered a complete grooming routine:

  • Full facial cleanse
  • Ear cleaning
  • Nail clipping
  • Wet bath
  • Paw pad trimming
  • Sanitary area trimming
  • Blow and brush

How can I make my cat enjoy grooming?

Always ensure your cat is as comfortable as can be during the grooming experience! The trick is to meet your cat’s comfort level, and not force it to meet yours. This means holding back if long brushing sessions lead to nippy cats, or if your cat jerks frequently during nail clipping.

We also recommend providing treats as part of positive reinforcement, whenever attempting to groom your cat. Praise it and reward it so that it learns that grooming is something to look forward to (or tolerate), and eventually enjoy 🙂
